Portfolio - Facebook Application

Written on February 23, 2008 – 5:21 am | by chloe

If you don’t aIready know about it I have some very exciting news for all those using facebook. There is now an application for facebook called Jpal, which allows you to view your Joopal portfolio from your facebook profile and also show it to your visitors. Of course you may enter another portfolio to show since users at Joopal are allowed to see any portfolio unless it is set as “private”.

Moreover, you can refresh the data without reloading your profile since it uses AJAX to make the updates. It is definitely easy to use and it looks like it is still under development but works perfect. So if you are using facebook try it out and if you do not have a Joopal account yet you may still check it since it will load some default portfolio, which by the way is quite good so you can also impress your friends!

Silicon Valley and the rest

Is it all about Silicon Valley? What about Seattle; and Europe?

Yahoo Live and UStream.tv

Yahoo! Live

Microsoft may think that Yahoo’s decision to reject $45 billion was “unfortunate” but it seems that Yahoo tries to follow the trend by building Yahoo! Live. A service that allows you to stream video and audio live to anyone online.

It is really nice as a service but we should mention UStream.tv that launched to the public on March 26, 2007. So if you have a webcam and like being watched try starting your own channel, it is really easy to participate.

Ps. Post in comments if you create a channel!

My Joopal Portfolio

I have been buying and selling some stocks at Joopal and I have to say that it is really good. The only disadvantage is the lack of buyers/sellers because there are not many people invited yet. The guy who invited me was quite generous and so I was given an invitation with a high starting value as you can see…

Joopal card invitation

Joopal Card Invitation

I just tried Joopal, a “Value-based online community” after receiving my card invitation.

It is at an early stage but still, it seems that most elements of a social network are already there along with some other more exclusive elements. After all they call the community “value-based”, so there is a market-like environment, where you can trade you own assets. Yes, that’s right! You might be thinking this does not make sense but wait, the stocks are supposed to be linked to some actual thing you have control over. For now it is more like a game but this is why it is still in testing after all.

I will be covering more about Joopal soon but overall it looks quite promising. It might be risky to say so that early but, finally something different!

ps. I am not sure when they will start handing out invitations wore widely but you should go pre-register and they might invite you before the rest when they launch their next version. At least this is my guess.

That’s all for now, more coming soon.
